Former India captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly was in the news when he was seen paying a visit to the Governor of West Bengal which sparked rumours if the latter is all set to join politics with BJP since the governor Jagdeep Dhankhar is also a part of the party.
What added more fire was with Bengal assembly elections due to take place in next months, it made people curious whether the current BCCI President is all set to enter the political world just like his former India teammate Gautam Gambhir. Sourav Ganguly, who is broadly known as the prince of Calcutta as termed by Late Tony Greig is a huge name in the state of Bengal which is why people would’ve made sense of him joining the BJP.
If the Governor wants to meet you, you have to meet him – Sourav Ganguly
Post-meeting the Governor when the media asked Ganguly if he or anyone from his family is going to enter the political world, the former captain denied such claims. Sourav Ganguly said if the Governor of the state asks you to meet, you have to meet him as simple as that. After meeting the Governor of Bengal, Ganguly visited the country’s capital where he attended a function in which Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled Arun Jaitley’s statue at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi.

Sourav Ganguly is currently the president of the BCCI where he had assumed office last October as he took over from the previous president C.K Khanna. Though his term shouldn’t have been over by July 2020, since the supreme court hasn’t conveyed any decision on the same, he’s still continuing in the role.
One of Sourav Ganguly’s most successful events under his leadership was the recently concluded IPL in the UAE where the board managed to earn close to 4000 crore rupees by organizing the IPL in a bio-secure bubble.
