SL vs IND 2021: Following The End Of Quarantine, India Players Engage In Pool Activities

India vs Sri Lanka

India’s squad for the tour of Sri Lanka recently came out of quarantine and had fun while participating in an eventful session in the swimming pool. Following their arrival in Sri Lanka, the team was advised to undergo hard quarantine for a period of three days.

To safeguard the mental health of its players, the team management had organized a few activities. This included a session of ‘Music & Mime’ between Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw. On Thursday, the team finished its mandatory isolation period and was seen hanging out at the pool.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India shared the picture of the squad filled with youngsters and a couple of seniors. A couple of staff members had also jumped in to join the party. Posting the picture on its official Twitter handle, BCCI wrote:

The joy of getting out of quarantine. All smiles #TeamIndia #SLvIND.”

There are as many as six newcomers to the limited-overs Team India side for the Sri Lanka series. Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Varun Chakravarthy, and Chetan Sakariya are all expected to get an opportunity in the upcoming series. While the team will be led by Shikhar Dhawan, pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar will act as his deputy.

Rahul Dravid feels India had no option but to go with two teams for two tours

Since Virat Kohli and co. are in England for the 5-match Test series against the hosts, BCCI had to name a different Team India squad to tour Sri Lanka for the white-ball series. Former cricketer Rahul Dravid was named as the head coach considering his experience with youngsters in the past.

When asked about his thoughts on naming two different squads for two different tours, Dravid said:

“This is a unique situation in terms of quarantines and rules that have led to this situation. India probably had no option for this tour. I’m not sure if it is a long-term solution because there are many more stakeholders involved. It’s becoming difficult for the same set of players to go through all the restrictions in place to play all formats. So yes, in the short term a good idea but for the long term, it’ll need lot more discussions.”
