Star Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of Lancashire’s upcoming Royal London Cup campaign. The reason behind Iyer’s absence is the injury that he sustained in an ODI match against England.
During the England tour of India, Shreyas Iyer dislocated his shoulder while fielding. Also due to a severe injury, the DC captain was ruled out of the IPL 2021 tournament. Although surgery has been completed still Iyer hasn’t fully recovered to play for now.
Meanwhile, Iyer was expected to return in the Lancashire Royal London Cup. However, due to the ongoing recovery process, he will miss the event. After the discussion between the club and BCCI, it has been told that the Shreyas will remain in India.
“I am gutted to not be able to play for Lancashire this summer, a Club that has such history and ambition. I hope to play at Emirates Old Trafford for Lancashire at some point in the future,” Iyer was quoted as saying in an official statement released by Lancashire.
We hope to see you back out on the cricket field soon, @ShreyasIyer15! 🤞
