Virat Kohli has broken various records in the recently concluded ODI series against Windies. Not just crossing the prestigious 10K run mark, he is now among the top five players to hit maximum centuries in all formats combined.
Several critics and legends are lauding the modern day icon for his efforts in the middle and former Australian skipper Steve Waugh also has some words of praise for the Indian stalwart.
In a recent interview with official Cricket Australia channel, Waugh mentioned that Kohli has the potential to break each and every record in the future except the magnificent average by Donald Bradman (99.94). It is to be noted that Bradman has been considered one of the best batsmen in the longest format of the game as he amassed over 6996 runs in just 52 matches.
Virat is now the top-ranked batsman in both tests and ODI”S. Though he was ruling the charts in T20I formats a few months back, consistent performances from other players has put him back (13th position). Nonetheless, he hasn”t been a part of a few series on account of his hectic schedule.
Speaking on the same, Steve Waugh said “He’s (Virat Kohli) got the passion and hunger, the fitness, the desire, the intensity and he loves playing the game. Unless he gets seriously injured, I think he’ll break all the batting records besides Bradman’s average.”
Steve Waugh also had a lot of praise for the young Indian opener Prithvi Shaw who bagged the Man of the series award in his debut series. In fact, he added Shaw to the list of legends Sachin, Gavaskar and Kohli and was fascinated by how players keep up the pressure of 1.3 billion people while playing at the international arena.
