“Suicide Attempt” – Fans React To Yastika Bhatia-Jemimah Rodrigues’ Horrible Mix-up During T20 WC Semi-Final

Team India got off to a horrible start in the second innings against Australia in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup on Thursday, February 23 at Newlands in Cape Town. Chasing 173 runs, they lost both their openers early for just fifteen runs on the board in the third over. Yastika Bhatia’s run-out made things worse for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team.

In the fourth over, Darcie Brown bowled full delivery to Yastika Bhatia, who shuffled down the wicket, and flicked the delivery. She set off for a run, calling for a quick single. However, Jemimah Rodrigues thought about the run, and turned back to her crease. Unfortunately, both the batters were stranded at the non-strikers end. Alyssa Healy completed the formalities of the run-out as the wicket-keeper batter walked back to the hut disappointed. She managed just four runs from seven deliveries, as India was reduced to 28 for three down.

Let’s take a look at how fans reacted to Yastika Bhatia’s run-out:

Harmanpreet Kaur goes after scoring fifty, India in huge trouble

Team India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was run-out after scoring a fifty in the semi-final against Australia. She was looking great at the crease, however, her innings came to an end in a disappointing manner. She went for a slong-sweep against Wareham. Gardner dived to stop the delivery and threw it back to the wicket-keeper. Harmanpreet’s bat struck in the ground while completing the second run. Healy dislodged the bails to dismiss the Indian skipper for 52 runs.

Harmanpreet slammed six boundaries and a six during her stay at the crease. Team India are 133/5 after her dismissal. Deepti Sharma joined wicket-keeper Richa Ghosh at the crease. Asleigh Gardner, Megan Schutt and Darcie Brown have picked up a wicket each for Australia so far. Earlier in the match, Beth Mooney slammed a fifty, while Meg Lanning stayed unbeaten on 49 to take Australia to 172 runs.
