Sunil Gavaskar Targets Team India Management Again; Says Ravichandran Ashwin Has Suffered For Speaking His Mind
Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar is not holding back and giving his opinions without any filter regarding the Indian team management. Gavaskar has already symbolised that players are treated differently in team India by taking an indirect dig at captain Virat Kohli. The former Indian batsman mentioned the names of R. Ashwin and T. Natarajan as he spoke about how rules are different for every individual in Team India.

While talking about Ashwin, Gavaskar claimed that the off-spinner has always suffered for speaking his mind. Gavaskar feels that Ashwin is not fairly managed by the team management as he isn’t an established batsman. Ashwin has not played any white-ball match for India since the 2017 champions trophy final.

Sunil Gavaskar believes Ashwin is sidelined for speaking his mind

The spinner is now tagged as a Test specialist even after good performances in the IPL. Gavaskar feels that Ashwin is not a yes man like others in the team which leads to him getting dropped from the Indian side.

“For far too long Ashwin has suffered not for his bowling ability of which only the churlish will have doubts, but for his forthrightness and speaking his mind at meetings where most others just nod even if they don’t agree”, Gavaskar wrote in his column for Sportstar.

“If Ashwin doesn’t take heaps of wickets in one game, he is invariably sidelined for the next one. That does not happen to established batsmen though”.

Meanwhile, this statement of Gavaskar has already taken social media by storm. The 71-year-old deems that much like Kohli, T. Natarajan should have been also granted a paternity leave but he wasn’t as he is a youngster. Natarajan is still in Australia and helping Indian batsmen fine-tune their skills in the nets for the Test series against Australia.

“That’s Indian cricket. Different rules for different people. If you don’t believe me ask Ravi Ashwin and T. Natarajan”, Gavaskar concluded his column.
