England have been dealt with a massive blow with opening batter Jason Roy has been ruled out of the remainder of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Eoin Morgan & Co will play New Zealand in their semifinal clash on Wednesday.
Incidentally, Jason Roy pulled up almost straight after setting off at the non-striker’s end, hobbling his way through the rest of the run, and also immediately dropped to the ground, throwing his head back in a mix of pain and frustration.

The World Cup winner then hobbled off the pitch with support from teammate Tom Curran. Jason Roy was hobbling on a crutch on the boundary edge after South Africa completed a ten-run win.
Expressing his disappointment, Jason Roy asserted that he will stay in the UAE to support his teammates.
“I’m gutted to be ruled out of the World Cup. It is a bitter pill to swallow,” Jason Roy said.Â
“I will be staying on to support the boys, and hopefully, we can go all the way and lift that trophy. It has been an unbelievable journey so far, and we have to continue expressing ourselves and concentrating on us,” he added.
Jason Roy looking to return to action during T20 tour of West Indies
The 31-year-old opener is hopeful that he can return to action early next year when England tour West Indies for a T20I series.
The rehab has already started, and even though I’ve torn my calf, I’m going to give myself the best chance of being ready for the T20 tour of the Caribbean at the start of next year,” Jason Roy added.Â
James Vince will replace Jason Roy in England’s squad for the rest of the tournament. He has 13 Tests, 19 ODIs, and 12 T20Is under his belt and will look to live up to the expectations.
