Former England captain Michael Vaughan sparked a new controversy on Thursday by claiming that the ICC’s decision to hold the India semi-final match in Guyana regardless of the Super 8 results was ‘unfair’ to other nations. The situation escalated when former Indian bowler Harbhajan Singh responded to Vaughan’s remark on X, urging him to ‘ stop being foolish and move on’.

After Afghanistan’s match against South Africa in the semifinals, Vaughan said on X, “Surely this Semi should have been the Guyana one.. but because the whole event is geared towards India it’s so unfair on others.”

Vaughan persisted in his assertion that Jos Buttler’s team would have won the semi-final if it had taken place in Tarouba’s Brian Lara Stadium even during the India vs. England match.

He wrote, “If England had beaten SA they would have got the Trinidad semi and I believe they would have won that game .. So no complaints they haven’t been good enough .. But Guyana has been a lovely venue pick for India”

Harbhajan Singh blasts into Michael Vaughan:

Vaughan’s repeated comments about India‘s pitch bias have drawn criticism from former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh. At Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27, India defeated England by 68 runs in a one-sided match. With a flawless comeback against England, the men in blue advanced straight to the T20 World Cup 2024 final.

Replying to Vaughan’s post on X, Harbhajan wrote, “What makes you think Guyana was a good venue for India ? Both Teams played on the same venue. England won the toss that was an advantage. Stop being silly. England was outplayed by India in all departments. Accept the fact and move on and keep your rubbish with yourself. Talk logic not nonsense,”

India will now play South Africa in the final of the tournament after decisively defeating England in the semifinals. There will be an intriguing match because both sides have won every game of the competition.
