“The Biggest Challenge As A Captain Is To Handle Different Kinds Of People” – Rohit Sharma

The world’s number one T20 team, the Indian Cricket Team, is currently gearing up for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, Team India has also begun their practice sessions in the United States. The Indian Cricket Team will kick off their campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup against Ireland on June 5, while they will face their arch-rivals Pakistan on June 9.

Before this, India will play a warm-up match against neighbouring Bangladesh on June 1. Amidst all this, a statement by Indian captain Rohit Sharma regarding his role is going viral on social media.

“Everyone should feel I am part of this team and I am important”: Rohit Sharma

This video featuring Rohit Sharma dates back to the previous T20 World Cup, which was in 2022. Star Sports, the broadcaster for IPL and T20 World Cup, has shared this video. In the video, Rohit, acting as the captain, discusses his responsibilities. Rohit states:

“The biggest challenge as a captain is to handle different kinds of people because everyone is not the same. Everyone has different demands. It’s about how you approach things.”

“So, you have to absorb all these things and it’s up to you how you deal with it. While captaining, the biggest thing I’ve learned is that giving importance to everyone is essential. Everyone should feel that they are part of the team and that they are important.”

“Whenever someone brings a problem to you, you need to figure out what could be a better solution by listening to them. This is something you need to convey to your teammates. It has been a good thing for me to learn while captaining. I believe I have to prepare as both a captain and a player.”

This marks Rohit Sharma’s second stint as captain of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup. Before this, he led the team during the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. Furthermore, he also captained Team India in the previous year’s One Day World Cup. Despite this, he has yet to secure a World Cup victory as captain.
