In the upcoming 2024 edition of The Hundred, there will be a notable Indian presence in the women’s division, with 15 players entering the draft scheduled later this month.
Star players such as Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma have been placed in the highest reserve price category of £50,000, alongside Ashleigh Gardner, making them the top four players in this tier.
Additionally, other key Australian players like Meg Lanning, Annabel Sutherland, and Beth Mooney are listed in the £40,000 price bracket.
Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Shafali Verma have all previously played for franchises in The Hundred, with Verma stepping in as a replacement for Sophie Devine.
Other Indian players on the draft list include Richa Ghosh, Renuka Singh, Shreyanka Patil, Yastika Bhatia, Kiran Navgire, Mona Meshram, Sneh Rana, S Meghana, Meghna Singh, Radha Yadav, and Shikha Pandey.
All the mentioned players are currently participating in the 2024 Women’s Premier League (WPL). As The Hundred 2024 is scheduled for the July-August timeframe, it serves as a robust preparation platform for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup in Bangladesh, set to take place in September-October.
Kane Williamson and David Warner are included in the draft list for the Men’s Hundred 2024
In the men’s division, players such as David Warner and Kane Williamson have once again registered their names to participate in the format, even though they were part of the draft in previous editions.
Warner, who will have retired from all forms of international cricket by the time The Hundred takes place, has withdrawn twice before, while Williamson faced an injury preventing his participation for the Birmingham Phoenix.
The draft has a total of 245 domestic players and 389 overseas players, with seven placed in the highest price category of £125,000. The players in this top bracket include Josh Inglis, Angelo Mathews, Angus McKenzie, Daryl Mitchell, Sunil Narine, Nicholas Pooran, and Mitchell Santner.
The 2024 Hundred’s Draft is scheduled for March 20 in London, with the Northern Superchargers having the first draft pick in the men’s division and the Birmingham Phoenix initiating the draft in the women’s division.
The competition is set to begin on July 23, featuring the defending champions Oval Invincibles facing off against the Birmingham Phoenix.
