Former Pakistan captain and current PM Imran Khan has given a major statement about India and world cricket. BCCI will be soon hosting the T20 World Cup in the UAE and Khan’s comments were directed at that event. Pakistan are also placed in the same group along with India in the mega event.
In a recent interview with the Middle East Eye, Imran Khan was asked about his opinion about England and New Zealand teams pulling out their respective tours to Pakistan over security issues. The prime minister said that he had seen the evolution of Pakistan-England cricket ties over the years.
“I think that there is still this feeling in England that they do a great favour to play with countries like Pakistan,” he added. “One of the reasons is that, obviously, the money.”
Adding on, Imran Khan said that the BCCI is a huge channeliser of that money in world cricket and thus controls the flow of the game.
“Money is a big player now.For the players, as well as for the cricket boards. The money lies in India, so basically, India controls world cricket now. I mean, they do, whatever they say goes. No one would dare do that to India because they know that the sums involved, India can sort of produce much more money,” he added.
Imran Khan Expresses Disappointment Over England& New Zealand Teams’ Pull Out
England pulled out from their proposed tour to Pakistan after the Kiwis pulled out from their confirmed series. The two back to back omissions from big teams did hurt the revenue of the Pakistan Cricket Board along with this being a massive disrespect from the board.
Expressing regret, the ECB had said, “we understand that this decision will be a significant disappointment to the PCB, who have worked tirelessly to host the return of international cricket in their country.”
Meanwhile, Pakistan has made a change to their final squad for the T20 World Cup. They have recalled Sarfaraz Khan and Shoaib Malik to their newly announced 15-member squad.
