The cricketing world was placed in an alarming state when a disturbing video of former Indian batter Vinod Kambli went viral on social media. However, Kambli has confirmed that the footage is old, and he is currently doing alright.
In the video, Kambli appeared to be in a vulnerable position after leaning on the motorcycle for support just so he could stand. He could not walk, and on-lookers had to assist him before they ushered him into a building. Over time, Kambli has had issues with his health even suffering from heart attack during the year 2013 although earlier on he underwent an angioplasty operation where two blocked arteries were cleared.
His friends started to inquire about Kambli due to the video being available everywhere and anytime. Former cricket star Kambli was spotted by Hindustan Times for around five hours with schoolmate Ricky and first-class umpire Marcus while he recalling old days. He advised them against trusting what they see on social media, stating that in reality he was very much these days concerned with his health.
“He was in jolly mood when we met him. And He is recovering well and is in much better condition. The video being circulated is outdated. And He doesn’t have belly fat and eat his food well. The entire family was present and enjoying each other’s company. His son, Cristiano, also a left-hand batter like his father, was taking batting tips from his father,” said Marcus.
Kambli also chatted with his ex-partner and is presently serving BCCI general manager Abey Kuruvilla; as well as Ajinkya Naik, who was just recently appointed the MCA president.

The previous southpaw batter, who first gained fame as a teenager by combining with Sachin Tendulkar for a partnership that became a record, was tipped to be the next big thing in Indian cricket. Kambli had a good start to his career but faded quickly and finished his Test career when he was only 23 years old.
Kambli’s last international game was in 2000 after which he played domestic cricket. In 2011, he announced his retirement from all formats of cricket.
