‘There Was No Phone Call, No Communication. I Gave You 8 Years…’: Chahal Opens Up On His Rejection By RCB

Yuzvendra Chahal expressed his dissatisfaction after being let go by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) prior to the IPL mega auction in 2022.

Chahal had been an integral part of the RCB squad since the 2014 edition. He spoke candidly about the lack of communication from the franchise regarding his release.

The IPL mega auction brought significant changes to team compositions, with most franchises having to make tough decisions about retaining or releasing players.

When RCB announced their retention list, it sparked a social media frenzy as they unexpectedly let go of their star spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal.

Chahal had played 114 matches for RCB and had been a key performer for the team, especially at the challenging M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

During an appearance on YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadiya’s podcast, Chahal revealed that RCB had assured him they would reacquire him in the auction.

However, to his dismay, he was not retained, and what upset him even more was the complete lack of communication from the franchise.

Chahal expressed his disappointment at the absence of a simple phone call or conversation, considering his eight-year association with the team.

He emphasized the familial bond he had developed with RCB and the trust shown in him by Virat Kohli, the team’s captain.

Chahal also addressed rumors that suggested he had demanded an exorbitant salary, clarifying that there was no truth to those claims. He believed in his own worth as a player and felt let down by the franchise’s decision.

He spoke about his anger and the emotional impact of not being selected by RCB after dedicating eight years of his career to the team.

The leg-spinner confessed that he even refrained from speaking to the RCB coaches when he faced them in his first match after his departure.

Despite the disappointment, Chahal acknowledged that the IPL auction is an unpredictable event. He made peace with the situation and accepted that everything happens for a reason.

He found a new opportunity with the Rajasthan Royals (RR). He had the chance to showcase his skills in bowling during the death overs.

Chahal believed that his time at RR contributed positively to his growth as a cricketer. While he maintained his attachment to RCB and their fans, he acknowledged the benefits of his cricketing journey with RR.

In conclusion, Yuzvendra Chahal’s revelation about being snubbed by RCB shed light on the lack of communication and disappointment he experienced.
