Chennai Super Kings have been dealt with by multiple blows even before the IPL 2020 has gone underway. The season will kick off on September 19 with CSK facing defending champions Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi. CSK will be without the services of Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh both of whom have pulled out of the season due to personal reasons.
Meanwhile, former CSK player Scott Styris has said in an interaction with Star Sports that this is the most challenging time for CSK. He made this revelation on Star Sport’s show Cricket Connected.
Challenging Times for CSK Says Scott Styris
“This is probably the most challenging time that I can recall for CSK and in particular the leadership of this group, Dhoni and Stephen Fleming. It is up to them now to bring the group together now that they have lost Raina and Harbhajan”, said Styris.
He further said that the absence of Suresh Raina will be a huge problem to counter for the side. He reasoned that Raina is not only the best batsman in the side but also a brilliant asset with the ball and in the field.
“Tough one, isn’t it. Player of that class, player who has been so good for so long who can suddenly find those runs. And even in the field, the odd over as well with the ball. It is going to be a big task. And I know the CSK squad is deep, they have got a lot of options at the top” said Styris.

Meanwhile, CSK was the last team to start practising for IPL 2020. There were some question marks if the team would be ready in time for the season opener, with 13 of their members testing COVID-19 positive.
However, the management has given the go-ahead to the franchise to be available for the first game of the season after a thorough test was conducted for all the members of the squad.
