India and England are going to face each other in the last test match at Edgbaston starting from 1st July. This test match is part of the 5 – match Test series between India and England which started last year in August. Indian team is leading the series 2-1 currently.
The victories of the Indian team at Oval and Lords last year brought a smile on the faces of so many Indians. In the past, the Indian team has won several interesting Test matches in England which have been etched in history books. 3) Nottingham, 2007 (by 7 Wickets)
The Indian team defeated England by seven wickets at Nottingham. India took a lead of 283 runs in the first innings. In reply to it, England managed to score just 355 runs. The Indian team comfortably chased down the target of 73 runs with seven wickets in hand. This win helped India win the test series in England in 2007.
Zaheer Khan was awarded Man of the match for his brilliant bowling efforts. Zaheer grabbed 4 wickets in first innings and 5 wickets in the second innings. It was a crucial victory for the Indian team. Wasim Jaffer, Dinesh Karthik, VVS Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly scored half centuries for the Indian team in this match.
2) Lords Test, 2014 (by 95 runs)
The Indian team defeated England by 95 runs at Lord’s cricket ground in 2014. It was a historical win at Lords. While batting first, India put up a total of 295 runs with the help of brilliant innings of 103 runs from Ajinkya Rahane. Indian Tailenders too put up a great fight.
In reply to it, England got a 24 run lead. Murali Vijay and Ravindra Jadeja stood up for the Indian team in the next innings which helped India set a target of 319 runs for England. India successfully defended the target with the help of seven wickets haul from Ishant Sharma.
1) Oval Test in 2021 (by 157 runs)
Virat Kohli led Indian team defeated England by 157 runs at Kennington Oval in 2021. It was a must win game for the Indian team. After electing to bat first, India lost four wickets within 69 runs. But Virat Kohli and Shardul Thakur guided India to a total of 191 runs. In reply to it, England got a 101 runs lead.
The Indian team didn’t let their shoulders down. Rohit Sharma played a brilliant knock of 127 runs. Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur too played good knocks which helped India post a target of 367 runs.
On the last day, the match looked like it would end in a draw. But great spells from all Indian bowlers helped India win the match by 157 runs.
