Sydney Morning Herald report downplayed Head’s absence from Monday’s training, noting that the team spokesperson mentioned the practice session was “optional.” Losing Travis Head would be a significant blow to Australia’s middle order. His ability to counterattack under pressure and stabilize the innings has been crucial in the series.
Head’s Fitness Test and Recovery Timeline
Travis Head is set to undergo a fitness test on Tuesday, just two days before the Boxing Day Test. The Australian medical team remains optimistic but cautious about his availability.
Australia’s Backup Plans without Travis Head
Sam Konstas, a 19-year-old batting prodigy, has been making waves in domestic cricket with his consistent performances. Konstas was included in the squad after an impressive domestic season. His attacking style and composure under pressure have caught the selectors’ attention.
“I do, but I am not going to say what it is … just trying to put pressure back on the bowlers,” Konstas told reporters on Monday when asked about his plans to counter the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep.
