The BCCI earlier in the day announced that the remaining IPL 2021 season will be played in the UAE. In its statement to the media, the board said that the reason they decided to shit the remaining season to the UAE was to avoid the monsoon season in India. Meanwhile, earlier this month, the Sourav Ganguly-led panel decided to suspend the season due to COVID-19. India is the country with the highest number cases and also the highest mortality rate due to COVID.
Meanwhile, the Twitterverse was shocked as to why the BCCI did not mention the actual reason behind the change of venue for the remaining season. The board also asked more time from the ICC to come to a decision on hosting the T20 World Cup later this year between October-November.
The BCCI in a release said, “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced to complete the remaining matches of VIVO Indian Premier League 2021 season in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) considering the monsoon season in India in the months of September-October this year.”

IPL 2021 will run likely from September 19 to October 10. The remaining 31 matches of IPL 2021 will be split into 10 double headers, 7 single headers, and 4 playoffs, which will be fit into the 21-day window the BCCI hopes to create before the ICC T20 World Cup.
The decision was reached after the BCCI officials came together to a unanimous decision on the same in the meeting. However, the IPL resumptions date is not announced yet and the BCCI has asked a little more time from the ICC to decide on hosting the T20 World Cup later this year.
