The BCCI in its Special General Meeting (SGM) on Saturday, announced that the remaining half of IPL 2021 will be played in the UAE. The decision was reached after the BCCI officials came together to a unanimous decison on the same in the meeting. However, the IPL resumptions date is not announced yet and the BCCI has asked a little more time from the ICC to decide on hosting the T20 World Cup later this year.

Meanwhile, IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals has reacted hilariously to the BCCI announcing the resumption of IPL. Roughly the remaining 31 matches will be played out within September 16-20 to October 10. However, a final decision on the same will be announced in due course.

Reacting to BCCI’s announcement, Rajasthan Royals’ official Twitter handle shared a video from the Bollywood movie Heyy Baby with the photoshopped faces of Sanju Samson, Chris Morris and Rahul Tewatia featuring in the video.

Rajasthan Royals Respond To BCCI’s Announcement

Along with the Royals, all other IPL franchises shared an update o the resumption of IPL 2021 as well. Defending champions Mumbai Indians posted a picture from last year’s IPL which was held in the UAE and wrote “UAE, we are coming back.” Not to forget Mumbai Indians won their fifth IPL title in the UAE last year, thus breaking their odd-year syndrome.

The BCCI had decided to suspend the IPL 2021 on May 4 after players from various IPL franchises tested COVID positive. Since then, the BCCI were making their best efforts to find a window o play out the remaining season. They were also looking for an alternate venue with COVID cases rising in India. Finally, after the SGM meeting, the BCCI has decided on how to play out the remaining season. 

IPL 2021 will run likely from September 19 to October 10. The remaining 31 matches of IPL 2021 will be split into 10 double headers, 7 single headers, and 4 playoffs, which will be fit into the 21-day window the BCCI hopes to create before the ICC T20 World Cup.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced to complete the remaining matches of VIVO Indian Premier League 2021 season in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) considering the monsoon season in India in the months of September-October this year,” BCCI said in a release.
