Lucknow Super Giants defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by just one wicket in a last-ball thriller played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on 10 April 2023 in the IPL 2023.

The match went right down the wire with 5 runs required off 6 deliveries, Harshal Patel delivered a good slower one to dismiss Mark Wood. Ravi Bishnoi took 2 runs to make the equation easier for LSG.

Patel then struck again getting rid of Jaydev Unadkat. Harshal missed a run out while Bishnoi was backing up and then Dinesh Karthik missed a golden opportunity as Avesh Khan and Bishnoi took a bye to help Lucknow Super Giants win the match by 1 wicket.

Chasing down 213 runs to win, Lucknow Super Giants got off to the worst possible start as Kyle Mayers went in the first over. Wayne Parnell struck twice in quick succession dismissing Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya to leave LSG in trouble at 23 for 3. Marcus Stoinis came to the crease putting pressure on RCB bowlers with some lovely shots.

Marcus Stoinis produced big shots against Karn Sharma and made batting look easy. Stoinis completed his half-century off 20 deliveries. Sharma struck to dismiss Stoinis with a good catch by Shahbaz Ahmed. Stoinis and KL Rahul added 76 runs for the 4th wicket. KL Rahul’s struggling innings ended dismissed for just 18 runs.

Nicolas Pooran showed his class with some lovely hitting against Karn Sharma keeping the momentum going for LSG. He kept the pressure on RCB bowlers and showed his class with fifty off just 14 deliveries to tilt the match in favor of Lucknow Super Giants. Ayush Badoni showed his class with great hitting.

After the second timeout, Siraj struck to get rid of Pooran with a simple catch to Shahbaz Ahmed. Pooran and Badoni added 84 runs for the 6th wicket. Pooran made 62 off 19 deliveries with 4 fours and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 326.31.

RCB’s top order fires today

After being asked to bat first, Virat Kohli looked in sublime form putting pressure on LSG bowlers. He kept the momentum going with brilliant shots. At the end of the first six overs, RCB made 56 for 0.

After the field restrictions, Kohli completed his fifty off 35 deliveries. Faf du Plessis struggled with his timing. Kohli was eventually dismissed for 61 caught by Stoinis ending 96 runs opening partnership. Glenn Maxwell struggled initially before taking the attack to LSG bowlers. Faf du Plessis also looked in fine touch completing his half-century off 35 deliveries.

Both just kept hitting sixes against Jaydev Unadkat and Avesh Khan. Mark Wood dismissed Maxwell in the final over. Maxwell and Faf added 115 runs for the 2nd wicket. At the end of 20 overs, RCB posted 211 for 2 in 20 overs. Faf remained not out on 79 off 46 while Glenn Maxwell made 59 off 29 balls.
