Windies captain Kieron Pollard has joined the likes of Herschelle Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh who have hit six sixes in consecutive balls in international cricket. While Gibbs did it in the 2007 50-Over World Cup against Holland, Yuvraj Singh achieved the feat against England in the maiden T20 World Cup ever. Pollard hit six sixes off six balls in the first T20 in Antigua. Spinner Dananjaya De Silva was at the receiving end of some brilliant hitting from the Windies skipper’s bat.
Chasing 132 to win, Kieron Pollard (38 off 11) and Jason Holder (29 off 24) finished the job after the openers gave them a solid start. Pollard’s blitzkrieg became the talking point of the game as he gave Dananjaya the treatment.
Kieron Pollard was batting on 2 off 4 and had just watched Simmons dismissed leg-before by Wanindu Hasaranga when Dananjaya came on to bowl. The first six went high over long-on, the second one straight into the sightscreen, the third over long-off, while the fourth six was sent to the mid-wicket region, well over the fence. The fifth one went over the long-on region and Pollard was gearing up for monumental achievement.

“A couple of things went through my mind before the sixth ball – before the last ball, I thought should I go for the six or take the 30 runs in the over, he went around the wicket and bowled it onto my pads, I told myself ‘Wait Polly, take a chance’. That’s how I have played my cricket all along, especially against the spinners,” said Kieron Pollard.
He hit him to all parts of the ground and bowled down to the dressing room after hitting the six sixes. Windies won the match at the end won the match by four wickets inside the 14th over. Meanwhile, Twitter bowed down to the Windies legend for joining an elite list of players to achieve the feat that he did.

Kieron Pollard today became only the 3rd batsmen after Yuvraj Singh and Herschelle Gibbs to smash 6 sixes in an over, he completely cleaned up Akila Dananjaya today. For the first time a bowler takes a hattrick and goes for 6 sixes in an over in the same match.

Earlier in the game, the Windies bowlers combined together to bowl out Sri Lanka for 131. Barring Niroshan Dickwella’s 33 and Pathum Nissanka’s 39 none of the other Lankan batsman did get any start.
Making a comeback, Dwayne Bravo picked up a wicket. Jason Holder too picked up a wicket as did the veteran pacer Fidel Edwards. Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran were out for ducks in an otherwise memorable match for the Windies. Kieron Pollard for his impactful innings was awarded the Man of the Match.
