Virat Kohli and his side will step on the field extremely high on confidence after they comprehensively defeated England in the last two Tests. A lot has been said about the pitch but every Indian player is not at all bothered by the outside noise and are only focused on the last Test.

Ahead of the 4th Test match, captain Virat Kohli talked about some key points the biggest being about the pitch. Kohli pointed out that India lost within 3 days in New Zealand but then nobody came forward and criticised the pitch. The team India captain added that his side is only focusing on their strength and are not concerned about the pitches.

“We lost in New Zealand inside 3 days but no one said anything about the pitch – Our strength is to focus on our team, not the pitch”, Kohli said in a virtual press conference.

Meanwhile, Kohli also hinted that there might not be many changes in the side apart from Jasprit Bumrah who has been released from the squad. Talking about his own batting form, Kohli stated that he is not concerned about scoring centuries. The Indian skipper highlighted the fact that his only aim remains to win matches as captain, contribute with the bat in whatever way possible and milestones are just secondary.

“My focus is to win matches for India, doing the responsibility as a batsman and captain for the side, if milestones happen then it will be great”, Kohli said.

Furthermore, a lot has been spoken about the concerning batting form of two Indian batting stalwarts Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane. The duo has not looked in the best of touch in the series against England and has faced a lot of criticism. However, Kohli is confident about both Pujara and Rahane scoring runs and once again tagged them as the two most important batsmen of India’s Test squad.

“Pujara is aware what he needs to do, he was criticized earlier for not performing away and now criticized for a few bad performances at home – I have said this before – Pujara & Rahane are our two most important Test batsman”, Kohli said.
