Ajinkya Rahane has always been one of the pillars of the Indian test squad in the last decade. Rahane has played some fine match-winning knocks for India especially away from home in his Test career. However, a certain section believes that Rahane is still not doing enough with the bat and his place in the side should be questioned.

The numbers do suggest that Rahane hasn’t been consistent with the bat in the last 5 years. The vice-captain of the Test squad averages less than 40 which highlights the fact that Rahane needs to contribute consistently by batting at the crucial number 5 spot.

Now ahead of the final Test match against England, Rahane talked about his individual batting form. The seasoned batsman pointed out that he is a team man who has always performed under pressure when his side needed him. Rahane is not at all worried about his batting form and his keen to make a winning contribution and take his side to the ICC world Test championship final.

“I knew someone would ask me this question. Check your stats, you know my contribution. Whenever the team has needed runs, I have performed. I am team man, everyone knows that”, Rahane said in a virtual press conference.

Talking about the crucial final Test, Rahane admitted that India is eyeing that final spot of the world Test championship final but are not taking the England side lightly. He also spoke about the pitch at Ahmedabad for the final Test and pointed out that it looks similar to the last Test.

Meanwhile, Rahane also admitted that India is looking to book their place for the ICC world Test championship final but are not talking England lightly. He spoke about the Ahmedabad pitch for the upcoming Test as well and thinks it is similar to the third Test.

“This Test is really important, we are focussing on the match and get that World Test Championship final spot. But for that we need to follow the process, we are not taking England lightly at all and want to win the match”.

“The Motera pitch for the fourth Test looks similar to the third one”, said Rahane ahead of the 4th Test which begins on 4th March.
