If you have some idea of Indian domestic circuit, you”ll know that Wasim Jaffer is an absolute legend of the game. Wasim has been excellent over the years for Mumbai and now, Vidarbha this season.
He is the emperor of the list of highest run-getters at the domestic level. Highest Ranji Trophy as well as the Irani Trophy run-getter.
And so, after finishing the Ranji Final for Vidarbha with his bat. It is only ripe, that Wasim aged 40 got a chance to play another Irani Trophy game in his career.
It is in the Irani Trophy where Wasim Jaffer has had the Under Taker in the Wrestlemania kind of record. Wasim has been unconquerable, there is the highest Irani Trophy run scorer in 11 games.
In the ongoing game versus the Rest of India as well, he has notched up a huge double hundred in Nagpur. The marathon effort came against an attack with Ravichandran Ashwin up its sleeves.
Also becoming the 18,000 first-class runs when he got past the 160 run mark in the first innings. He overtook the first-class tallies of batting legends such as Dilip Vengsarkar (17868) and GR Viswanath (17970).
Wasim is still batting not out on 285*. And could be making a tremendous and outstanding individual score terror as Vidarbha looks to bat out Rest of India from the contest and win the Irani Trophy.
The Twitterati as well took no time in congratulating the great achievement. Many appreciated Wasim”s unwavering and everlasting hunger for runs.
Wasim played 31 tests for India and scored 5 hundred with ones in Newlands, Southafrica, and Kingston, Jamaica standing out.
We wish him luck for his future. At the evening of his career, Wasim”s presence is only helping Indian cricket. A great player.
Jaffer’s contribution to Indian cricket goes beyond the runs he’s scored….players like him are the very reason of Indian cricket’s robust domestic circuit. Keep raising the bar. Keep pushing the next generation. Class Act.

Age 40, 53 first class century, highest run getter in Irani Trophy this man needs to be celebrated more than he actually is. Didn’t get bogged down because of lack of Indian selection . Just batted on. Take a bow #Wasimjaffer pic.twitter.com/ISudXKDRBd

Absolutely loved the reaction of Wasim Jaffer after hitting a boundary to reach 18000 runs!!! Looks at the dressing room, doesn’t understand the fuss behind them applauding for that shot! Raises his bat anyways and goes back to bat again! What a champion! #IraniCup
