The Indian Under 19 team started their World Cup with a thumping win in their Group B over Australia at Mount Maunganui just finished a few minutes ago. Prithvi Shaw won the toss and batted first. Both Indian openers Shaw and Kalra put on 180 runs for the first wicket. After that Shubam Gill played a cameo knock which helped team India post 328 for 7 in 50 overs. Australia Under 19 was never in the game and was bowled out for 228.
Indian Under 19 captain Prithvi Shaw won the toss and elected to bat. Shaw and Manjot Kalra started off with a positive note scoring 55 runs in first 10 overs. Both of them continued to put pressure on the Australian bowlers. Captain Shaw reached his half-century off 55 balls. Kalra also completed his fifty off 55 balls. Both of them continued to smash the Australian bowlers. Shaw was dismissed for 94.
Soon after Manjot Kalra was dismissed for 86. Shubam Gill and Himanshu Rana added 49 runs for the third wicket. Gill played with positive intent and reached his fifty off 55 balls. Despite losing wickets, Abishek Sharma scored 23 off 8 balls, Nagarkoti 11 off 7 and Shiva Singh 10 off 9 helped team India post a massive total of 328 for 7.
Chasing the massive target of 329, Australian openers Bryant and J Edwards gave the team a steady start scoring 43 runs in the first 10 overs. Nagarkoti dismissed Bryant for 29. Australian batsmen struggled to score runs with ease. J Merlo and J Edwards added 59 runs for the third wicket. In the end, BJ Holt made 39 off 30 balls. Australia under 19 was dismissed for 228 in 42.5 overs. Shivam Mavi and Nagarkoti picked 3 wickets each.

Captain Shaw was named the man of the match. India Under 19 will play their next match on 16th January against PNG.
