As per reports in Cricket Pakistan, Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal was given death threats by four fans who came inside his house and asked for autographs. The fans came upto his house for autographs however, things got ugly when they gave him death threats. Akmal, who has been out of the national team for a while now has a habit of getting into controversies and this is one of them.
However, this particular story seems to have two different sides. Initial reports say that a few fans walked up to Umar Aklam’s residence in Lahore for an autograph and as it turned out gave him death threats.
The police filed an FIR against the fans who are under custody as of now. However, further investigation brought out a completely different angle to the story. Cricket Pakistan reported that Umar Akmal’s domestic help beat up the four fans one of whom was a Britisher. He was staying as a paying guest beside Akmal in phase five of Lahore’s Defense Housing Authority (DHA).

This is not the first time that Umar Akmal has been reported with indisciplinary action. Previously he was in the news for getting into arguments with his teammates. Umar was seen as the next big thing in Pakistan cricket but failed to keep his focus on the game. Later he was more in news for all the wrong reasons and got involved in numerous controversies.
He is out of the national team for quite some time now. In recent times, he has been in the news for getting into arguments with former Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur and bowling coach Waqar Younis. He last played an international game for Pakistan in 2019. He has played 121 ODIs and 84 T20Is for the national team, besides 16 Test matches.
