India Were A Better Side While Playing Against Pakistan In World Cups – Waqar Younis

Pakistan legend Waqar Younis has represented Pakistan in numerous games including four World Cups. Waqar along with Wasim Akram has been the backbone of Pakistan bowling attack in the 1990s. The duo has often bowled in tandem in most games for Pakistan leading them to victory.

Meanwhile, India-Pakistan ties have produced some of the exciting encounters. The players of both sides have put their best game in these crunch matches. Incidentally, Pakistan have never beaten India in the World Cup.

India were a better side – Waqar Younis

Speaking on the same lines, Waqar Younis recently praised India for playing better cricket consistently. He also agreed that the Men in Blues always had an upper hand against Pakistan.

“Over the last few World Cups, Pakistan have not won against India. We did well in other formats, we did well in Test matches, but when it comes to World Cups and ODI Cricket, India has always had an upper hand on us. And they deserve it. I think they played better cricket than us,” he said while answering a fan’s question.

Waqar Younis

Waqar Younis was quoted saying that India always looked in a positive frame of mind while playing against Pakistan. For him, India is a good side who always outplayed Pakistan as they let the game slip out of their hands.

“So they were a very good side and I think on that particular day they just came out with a very positive frame of mind, they played better cricket and played smartly. We did not play smartly; we had games in our hands.

If you look at the World Cup in 2011 and then of course back in ’96 also we had the game in our hand, but it is just, we… we just threw it away. It is hard to pinpoint why we do that, maybe, it’s just the pressure of the World Cup now because it happens so many times, it is just the psychological pressure on us that we just cannot really win against them” said Waqar.
