India Uner 19 World Cup Team began their title defence with a comprehensive win over Bangladesh at Mangaung Oval, Blofemntion on 20th January 2024. Bangladesh captain Mahifur Rahman Rabby won the toss and decided to field first.
It was an ideal start as left pace bowler Maruf Mridha struck twice getting wickets of Arshin Kulkarni and Musheer Khan to leave the Indian team in trouble. Adarsh Singh and Captain Uday Saharan steadied the ship putting pressure on Bangladesh bowlers. At the end of the first 10 overs, the Indian team scored 45 for 2.
Adarsh and Uday kept the scoreboard ticking with boundaries and taking singles easily. The left-handed Adarsh showed his class by completing his fifty off 67 balls. Both batters made the batting look easy not allowing Bangladesh bowlers to settle. Mohammad Rizwan Chaudhary was brought into the attack and struck on his first delivery getting rid of Adarsh Singh. Adarsh and Uday added 116 runs for 3rd wicket.
Uday Saharan looked impressive with fifty off 67 balls. Priyanshu Moriya struggled against disciplined Bangladesh bowling. The pressure felt on Saharan was caught by Dolluah Borson. Aravelly Avinash showed his class with some lusty blows that put pressure on Bangladesh bowlers. Maruf was bought into the attack and dismissed Aravelly.

Aravelly and Moriya added 33 runs for the 5th wicket. Sachin Dias was brilliant with his hitting smashing Borson for runs that put pressure on Bangladesh’s bowling. A stunning catch by Ahrar Amin ended the innings of Moriya. Hossain Emon bowled a stunning last over as the Indian team posted 251 for 7 in 50 overs. Maruf finished with figures of 5 for 43 in 8 overs.
Naman Tiwari struggled with his rhythm against Shibli and Jishan Alam. Tiwari hit a sharp bouncer against Shibli. Raj Limbani took the first wicket rid of Alam with a stunning catch by Abhishek Murugan. Shibli and Alam added 38 runs for the opening wicket. Saumy Pandey struck twice getting wickets of Rizwan Chaudhary and Shibli to leave Bangladesh in trouble.
At the end of the first 10 overs, Bangladesh made 41 for 3. Arshin Kulkarni struck to dismiss Arhar Amin leaving them in deep trouble. Mohammed Shihab James and Ariful Islam steadied the ship slowly against disciplined Indian bowling. Musheer Khan struck to get rid of Ariful with a sharp catch by Aravelly. Ariful and James added 77 runs for the 5th wicket. Shihab James looked impressive showing his class completing fifty off 75 balls.
It was one-way traffic as Indian bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals to bowl out Bangladesh for 167 in 45.5 overs. Saumy Pandey was the pick of bowlers with 4 for 24 in 9.5 overs while Limbani and Arshin Kulkarni took 1 wicket each Musheer Khan took 2 wickets as Borson was run out by Musheer Khan.
For his 76 off 96 deliveries, Adarsh Singh was named the player of the match award. They will now Ireland on 25th January 2024.
