When Rishabh Pant returned, it was one of the most exciting moments of the India vs. Bangladesh Test match. The Men in Blue’s star player was wreaking havoc as the wicketkeeper-batter made his much anticipated return to red-ball cricket.
Although things did not go well in the first inning, Pant came back strong in the second, scoring a ton of runs in his comeback effort. He and Shubman Gill developed a vital combination that enabled India to score more than 500 runs after declaring their innings.
The stumper talked about his relationship with the opener and how it has benefited him in building the strong combination that has been India’s second innings.
“We were just trying to be ourselves”- Rishabh Pant

The opening Test match of the India–Bangladesh series turned out to be a great deal more than just a professional engagement for the young Indian cricketers Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. History was made when India played their first Test match in Chennai, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, and defeated their opponents Bangladesh by an empathic 280 runs.
“I think one thing that I understood over a period of time is that when you have a great relationship outside the field or off the field, it really helps to bat with that guy. I think when you have a great bond outside the field, you understand how that other person is thinking. How the game is moving around, and we were just having fun, having fun chats,” Rishabh Pant said.
“Talking about the game very little bit, but at the end of the day we knew what we really wanted to do. We were just trying to be ourselves and relax and just wanted to stitch a great partnership,” Pant told in a video posted by the BCCI on their social media.
