Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh immediately made an impact with the new ball by trapping Shayan Jahangir lbw during the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup match against the USA. The game is taking place at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Wednesday, June 12.
Arshdeep Singh was given the new ball, and the left-arm seamer managed to swing it back into the right-hander. Jahangir failed to handle the inswinger and was slow to bring his bat down. The ball hit his front pad directly, making it an easy decision for the on-field umpire after a brief appeal from the fielding side.
Shayan Jahangir returned to the pavilion without considering a review. Replays confirmed that the decision was correct, marking a perfect start for India in the contest.

Fresh from bowling the crucial final over against Pakistan on Sunday, Arshdeep Singh has started his spell impressively.
Meanwhile, Shayan Jahangir was included in the playing XI, replacing skipper Monank Patel, who is nursing a niggle. Jahangir had only played one T20I before, which was during the recent series against Bangladesh leading up to the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Arshdeep Singh took another wicket in his first over, dismissing Andries Gous
Arshdeep Singh concluded his first over in style by taking a second wicket. He immediately troubled the new batter, Andries Gous, nearly replicating the Jahangir dismissal, but the ball struck Gous high on the pad.
After a few uneasy strokes, Gous attempted a pull shot on a length delivery. However, the extra bounce caused the ball to take the top edge, leading to a comfortable catch by Hardik Pandya, deepening USA’s early woes.
Arshdeep followed up with an excellent second over, giving away just one run. His figures now stand at 2/4 after two overs, while the USA is struggling, having scored only eight runs in the first three overs.
