The Emirates Cricket Board has imposed a five-year ban on Usman Khan, citing breaches of obligations. This ban prohibits the right-handed batsman from participating in any UAE-affiliated competitions such as ILT20, Abu Dhabi T10, or others until 2029.
The board alleges that the 28-year-old misrepresented his intentions to play for UAE, as reported by ESPN Cricinfo.
“Usman was found to have misrepresented to ECB about his decision to play for the UAE team and has used the opportunities and development provided by the ECB to him to seek out other prospects, and it was evident that he was no longer wanting to play for ECB nor complete the eligibility criteria which he was under an obligation to do.”
The dissatisfaction stemmed from Usman’s choice to join the recent Pakistan fitness camp, despite displaying little enthusiasm for representing the country during a recent interview with ESPN Cricinfo.
It remains uncertain whether the ban will also invalidate the work permit held by the 28-year-old in the UAE.
