The Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Varun Chakravarthy alongside his KKR teammate Kamlesh Nagarkoti have arrived at the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The duo has come to National Cricket Academy(NCA) to complete their fitness Test ahead of traveling to UAE for the second phase of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.
The reports by InsideSport suggest that Varun Chakravarthy and Kamlesh Nagarkoti are not yet cleared to travel to UAE. However, they are currently doing rehab cum fitness regimens. Meanwhile, Once they clear everything and get their fitness certificates from National Cricket Academy they will be allowed to fly to UAE for IPL 2021.
Also, star opening batsman Shubman Gill who recently suffered a severe shin injury is all set to join IPL 2021. Notably, Gill was set to be part of the India tour of England five-match Test series. However ahead of the tour he suffered a shin injury and was ruled out of the entire series. After Gill’s injury, India had to look out for other options available in the squad. Like KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal. Indian management even called Prithvi Shaw as a replacement for Shubman Gill for the series.
Kolkata Knight Riders had a poor show in IPL 2021 India leg
The Eoin Morgan-led side was seen struggling in the first phase of IPL 2021. Despite having a lot of champion players in the team, they didn’t perform well. T20 specialists like Eoin Morgan and Andre Russell didn’t look in great form.
Meanwhile when the tournament was suspended KKR was placed second last in the points table. In the 7 games, they played KKR was able to bag a victory only in 2 games and were having a total of 4 points.
Kolkata Knight Riders will be looking forward to changing their fortunes in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. KKR will face off Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore in their first game of IPL 2021 UAE on September 20.
