IPL 2021: Shubman Gill Recovers From Shin Injury, All Set To Travel To UAE

Team India opener Shubman Gill suffered an untimely injury that ruled him out of the entire five-match series against England. While there were doubts about his participation in the second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), it is likely that he will travel to the UAE for the marquee T20 competition.

Meanwhile, Gill was India’s first-choice opener in Test cricket alongside Rohit Sharma. He was all set to take part in the first-ever World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand and 5-match Test series against England. However, he was only able to take part in the WTC final as he suffered a shin injury ahead of the England Test series.

The injury was a severe one and he was ruled out of the entire Test series. India has to look for other options like Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul. Even Prithvi Shaw was called as a replacement for Gill. Notably, Mayank Agrawal was the first choice opener however he suffered a head injury in the practice session. So KL Rahul was given a slot by the Indian team in the Test against England and so far he has been outstandingly good.

Opening batsman Shubman Gill sustained a developing stress reaction on his left lower leg (shin) during the World Test Championship final. This was confirmed via an MRI scan. He is ruled out of the tour and has returned back to India,” the statement from BCCI had said last month.

Meanwhile, According to the latest reports, Shubman Gill has recovered from the injury. Also, he will be soon seen in action as he is all set to travel to UAE for the second phase of Indian Premier League 2021 which will begin on September 19 with the prolific encounter between CSK and MI. The source has revealed that the KKR batsman has fully recovered and now is in the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and will soon travel to UAE.

Gill is in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and has recovered from his shin pain. He will be departing for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) soon for the IPL. He has been at the NCA for a week now,” a source said according to New Indian Express.

Meanwhile, it won’t be easy for Gill to get his slot back in the Indian Test side. As KL Rahul has already scored a marvelous half-century in the first Test against England and a century at Lord’s and is looking in great touch.
