India ended their day on 322/6 in their practice game against Essex yesterday. Dhawan and Pujara weren”t comfortable in their innings as they fell cheaply. Rahane with his 17 wasn”t able to hold his innings a bit long.
However, Murali Vijay and Virat Kohli built the innings patiently as both of them scored half-centuries. Being a practice game, all the batsmen got their chances and the middle order was a certainly a better pick than others.
KL Rahul and Dinesh Karthik added 114 runs and this certainly led India to build a good total. KL hit 58 runs and the latter is unbeaten at 82.
All eyes were on the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. His knock of 68 included 12 boundaries which can be termed “classical” shots. It is to be noted that Virat Kohli had a poor run in the 2014 series where he scored just 134 runs in 10 innings. While several critics questioned his inclusion, he hit them back with back to back centuries in Australian down under.
Here”s a video of his innings yesterday. It will be interesting if Dinesh Karthik can hit a century and make a scoreboard impact before the focus shifts to the bowling unit.
