On the eve of first One day International, the former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni hits a big shot at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Team India will play in three matches One day international series against New Zealand from 22nd October. He smacked a big one which reminded of the 2011 World Cup finals played at the same ground 6 years back.

MS Dhoni resigned from the limited overs format this year and since then he has played well with the bat. In the year 2017, Dhoni has scored 648 runs with 1 century and 5 half-centuries. In the ODI series against Sri Lanka and Australia, Dhoni has performed well with match winning knocks which helped team India to get Men in Blue out of tough situations.

In today’s practice session at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, Mahendra Singh Dhoni came down the track and smashed the spinner out of the park. In the 2011 World Cup final, captain MS Dhoni promoted himself an ahead of Yuvraj Singh. He played a captain’s knock of 91 not out hitting Nuwan Kulasekara for a massive six helping team India win the World Cup after 28 years.

Sri Lanka had posted a competitive 274 for 6 in 50 overs with a century from Mahela Jayawardene. Chasing the target of 275, India had lost 2 early big wickets of Sachin Tendulkar and Sehwag. Virat Kohli and Gambhir added 83 runs for the third wicket. MS Dhoni showed his class with the bat scoring 91 not out and hit a big six which gave joy to the Indian fans on that day. The finals were played on 2nd April 2011. He did not have a great tournament till then and played one of his best knocks in the finals.
