India’s ace off-spinner R Ashwin produced a magical delivery for Worceshthire during a county cricket match against Durham on the 2nd day played at Worcester. In the first innings, R Ashwin was the top scorer with 82 runs and contributions from JM Clarke 65, EG Barnard 75 helped Worceshthire to a competitive total of 335.
The magical ball from Ashwin took place in the 33rd over when off-spinner turned the ball as Paul Collingwood was trying to cut the ball and hit off stump. It was a great ball from Ashwin who took 2 wickets for 53 runs in 24 overs. Durham was bowled out for 208. He has been left India’s ODI squad for the last two ODI’s against Australia. At the end of day 3, Worceshthire has a lead of 284 runs with 7 wickets. Their second innings total at the present moment is 157 for 3. In total R Ashwin has picked 13 wickets in 3 matches. This is his fourth match for Worceshthire in county cricket. He made his debut last month.
With the upcoming T20 series against Australia coming up, Ashwin gave a reminder to the selectors that he is still fit to play limited overs cricket. Ashwin performances in the ODI format have not been great. He picked 8 wickets in his debut county match against Glouceshthire.
It is a great experience to play in England conditions. India takes on England in five-match test series next year along with 3 ODI’s and 3 T20 matches. Ashwin has done well for India with the bat and ball in recent past. With this type of knocks in England, the off-spinner would gain good exposure in England conditions.
Ashwin is the best all-rounder in test matches for India who scores valuable runs at number 6 and also takes wickets for the team according to situations. His record in overseas has been poor, would look like to improve his record in tough tours.
