Chris Gayle, “The universe Boss” has been making a statement to the critics who doubted his hitting abilities on the basis of his age.
The 38-year-old big man from the windies was roped into the Kings XI Punjab squad in the last session of the auction for his base price of two crores. His ex-franchise hadn”t tried to retain him and this marked his end of seven years of service to Royal Challengers Bangalore.
In a recent video tweeted by the sky sports, the official broadcaster of IPL in England, Gayle showed his finishing skills. Dominic Cork, the 46-year-old right arm medium bowler was seen bowling to Gayle in the nets. When just five runs were required off the last delivery, the boss smashed it to the other end of the stadium.
Gayle also showed his “Spartan” bat and was seen saying “New bat mate!!”. He also pacified Cork to bowl well next time. Gayle now scored over 300 runs in just five innings as an opener for Punjab. His presence will play an important role in deciding the team”s playoff chances.
It is to be noted that Gayle has been the nightmare for any bowler in the shortest format of the game. He scored over 22 centuries in the T20″s while six of them were scored in this cash-rich league.
Gayle, who enjoyed a little vacation with his family at Kerala is all set to come to all guns blazing against the Rajasthan Royals at Indore today. It will be interesting to see how Gayle makes their playoff journey a fruitful one.
