Ashish Nehra who played for India in his final international game during the first T20I against New Zealand at Feroz Shah Kotla, New Delhi yesterday night showed his football skills while fielding. India had posted 202 for 3 in their 20 overs. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan added 158 runs in 16.2 overs for the opening wicket which set the platform for a big total. The captain Virat Kohli made a quick fire 26 in 11 balls helped team India reach a competitive total.
The left arm pace bowler showed his football skills during the 16th over. Yuzvendra Chahal was the bowler and it hit the pad of Tim Southee, Ashish Nehra makes a walk and plants the boot across to lob it in the air. It amuses the Indian players especially Indian captain Virat Kohli who gives a happy look. Ashish Nehra bowled the last over. India won the match by 53 runs to give the Men in Blue their first win over the Kiwis in T20Is. It was a completely dominating performance by team India who outplayed the Kiwis in all departments.
Ashish Nehra played for 19 years. He played 17 test matches, 120 One day internationals and 27 T20Is for team India. It was a great carrier for Nehra who played the key role in 2003 World Cup. India reached the finals of 2003 losing to Australia by a massive margin. Nehra has 2 two five wickets haul in One-day internationals. The left arm pacer had a lot of problems with his fitness.
India won the first T20I by 53 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series. With Ashish Nehra gone, it gives a chance to play the young Mohammad Siraj in upcoming two T20I matches.
