Vijay Shankar Opens Up On Comparisons With Ambati Rayudu

Vijay Shankar-Ambati Rayudu

India all-rounder Vijay Shankar has been in the news recently. He recently spoke about his desire to make a national come back saying that he is finding ways for it. He recently spoke to India Today on his comeback dream and his Team India journey so far. Meanwhile, amid all the talks reports of differences between him and Ambati Rayudu has come up. Shankar was chosen ahead of Rayudu in the Indian squad for the 2019 World Cup.

A disheartened Ambati Rayudu made a tweet 3D tweet which became the talk of the town back then. The then chief selector MSK Prasad said Shankar was picked since he was a 3D (3-dimensional) player. However, Shankar said that there do not talk about the tweet when they meet now but the comparisons were baseless as they have different roles within the team.

There Is No Personal Issue Between Us: Vijay Shankar On Ambati Rayudu

“We talk well when we meet. There’s no personal issue between us. It just so happened that his (Rayudu’s) tweet became viral. I definitely don’t have any grudge against him. Even when I met him recently in Delhi, we had a super conversation,” Shankar told News18 when asked if he has ever brought up the tweet with Rayudu.

Vijay Shankar also kept a word on Rayudu’s 3-D tweet saying that he has nothing to do anything with that.

“I have no connection to that. They gave me a tag randomly and made it viral. But after that tweet, I played three games for India in the World Cup and did decently. I didn’t do anything bad,” Shankar said.

Meanwhile, Shankar is struggling with form in his aim to make a comeback in the Indian team. He managed to play only 3 games in that World Cup before getting injured again. Since then he has not featured for the men in blue. His performance seems to be declining in the IPL as well. He struggled to find form in the 2021 IPL.
