Virat Kohli Acknowledges Fans’ Cheers After IND vs CAN T20 World Cup Match Was Abandonment

Virat Kohli, a key player for Team India, engaged with some fans at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida, on Saturday, June 15. This interaction took place after the scheduled 33rd match of the 2024 T20 World Cup between Canada and India was called off due to a wet outfield. The abandonment of the match meant that both teams were awarded one point each.

Consequently, India and the USA moved on to the Super 8 stage from Group A, while Pakistan, Canada, and Ireland were eliminated. Indian players, including Kohli, waited at the venue for a few hours as the groundsmen tried to dry the field. During this time, Kohli was seen walking around the stadium and responding to fans’ chants. A video shared by a user on X captured this moment.

Sunil Gavaskar’s Trust in Virat Kohli Despite Recent T20 World Cup Scoring Struggles

Former Indian cricket captain Sunil Gavaskar recently expressed his support for Virat Kohli, despite Kohli’s low scores as an opener in the group stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup. Gavaskar believes there is no cause for concern about Kohli’s form, noting that sometimes batters simply face particularly good deliveries. Gavaskar shared these thoughts during an interview with Star Sports.

He said,”These are early days in the tournament, there’s still a lot of the tournament to go. Suddenly everything can’t go wrong just because the man has got three low scores. It doesn’t mean that he is not batting well. Sometimes you get a good delivery. Nothing to worry about.”

“When you’re playing for any team, when you’re playing for your country, there’s no greater motivation. He has done so well for India over the years. He has performed well in so many matches. Basically, we have to show faith in him. He has enough faith in himself. We must believe that he will come good sooner than later.”
