There are reports circulating that the prominent cricketer Virat Kohli and his wife, actor-producer Anushka Sharma, are anticipating their second child. Popularly known as Virushka, the couple already has a daughter, Vamika, born in January 2021. They have intentionally kept their young child out of the public eye.
As per a Hindustan Times report, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are anticipating their second child. The report cites sources and suggests that Anushka might have already entered her second trimester.
“Anushka is expecting her second baby. Like the last time, they will formally share the news with the world at a later stage,” a source told HT.
The newspaper also cited another source who mentioned that Kohli and Anushka were recently seen at a maternity clinic in Mumbai.
“They requested the paparazzi to not publish their pictures, with a promise to make an announcement soon,” the source said.
The report additionally highlighted that Anushka is no longer accompanying Kohli on his travels or attending cricket matches, as she did in the past. Despite their celebrity status, the well-known couple has made significant efforts to shield their daughter, Vamika, from their high-profile lifestyle. They have never posted photos of their daughter on social media.
When Vamika’s photo was captured for the first time, both Kohli and Anushka issued a statement, appealing to the media not to publish her pictures.
Kohli will play a crucial role in India’s prospects for the 2023 World Cup
Kohli, currently 34 years old, is in preparation for the 2023 ODI World Cup scheduled to take place in India from October 5 to November 19. He was a part of the team that won the World Cup on home soil in 2011 under the leadership of MS Dhoni, although he was still establishing himself in international cricket at that time.
In the 2019 World Cup in England, captained by Kohli, India reached the semi-finals but faced defeat in the knockout match, losing to New Zealand by 18 runs in Manchester. Although Rohit Sharma will lead the Men in Blue in the 2023 edition, India’s chances in the competition will greatly depend on Kohli’s performance.
The former captain has participated in 26 World Cup matches to date, accumulating 1030 runs at an average of 46.81. His highest score of 107 was achieved against Pakistan in Adelaide during the 2015 edition.
