He is expected to have a reduced cricket schedule this year due to shifts in the Indian team’s dynamics, he continues to maintain his position as the highest-earning Indian on Instagram.
According to a report, Kohli commanded an astonishing INR 11.45 crore for each sponsored post on Instagram in the 2023 rankings. This list was led by football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, with his rival Lionel Messi following closely.
Regarding Ronaldo, he demanded an enormous amount of USD 3.23 million, approximately equal to INR 26.75 crore. In contrast, Messi’s fee stood at USD 2.56 million for each Instagram post, equivalent to INR 21.49 crore per post, as reported by Hopper HQ.

Virat Kohli stands as the lone Indian to secure a spot in the global top 20 list. The report indicates that he commanded USD 1.38 million for each Instagram post, equating to INR 11.45 crore per post. He currently boasts a follower count of 256 million on the platform.
Mike Bandar, one of the co-founders of Hopper HQ, showed surprise at the significant increase in earnings for global celebrities on Instagram. He also emphasized the broad influence that sports stars wield beyond their athletic endeavors.
“It’s still shocking to me that the annual money made on the platform increases every year,” Bandar said. “Yet, what fascinates me more is the consistent players at the top.”
“It’s apparent that the glitz and glamour of traditional celebrities still holds power over the new ‘influencer’ status.”
“Ronaldo and Messi not only dominate the pitch, but also the digital sphere as it’s clear they personify the power of personal branding and the influence it holds over us ‘ordinary’ people.”
Among the Indian individuals listed, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, known for her roles in Bollywood and Hollywood, follows next in line at the 29th spot. The report states that she earned USD 532,000 (INR 4.40 crore) for each post.
