Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir showered praise for veteran batter Virat Kohli. He expressed that the Indian cricketer is the best in this era, and cannot be compared to anyone. Virat has been in good form for Team India in the ongoing 2022 T20 World Cup, slamming a couple of centuries in the tournament.
The 33-year-old kicked off the tournament last Sunday, October 23 with a bang against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. He smashed an unbeaten 82 to power India to an emphatic win. Following this, the right-handed batter scored a fifty against the Netherlands in Sydney.
Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir termed Virat Kohli as his favorite and the “best in this era.” He lauded the former Indian skipper’s work ethic and his ability to handle pressure. Following Kohli’s knock against Pakistan, Mohammad Amir said, in a video shared by ICA Sports,
“I’ve told this in many interviews, why do I say Virat Kohli is my favorite? He is the best in this era. He just cannot be compared! It’s because I have bowled to him as well and the level of temperament, the mindset he carries towards the game, his work ethic, and the way he handles the pressure, I don’t think in this time any batsman can handle this sort of pressure as he did.”
Virat Kohli just does not have any comparisons: Mohammad Amir
Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir further expressed that Virat Kohli’s 82 against Pakistan was one of his best innings, and it took the game away from the opposition. He added that big players step up under pressure, and Virat Kohli did the same. Mohammad Amir said,
“People begin comparing him with different batsmen. He just does not have any comparisons. And yes, this has been one of his best innings in T20 (82* against Pakistan) and he has said it himself. Out of nowhere, he just took the game away from Pakistan.”
“And this is the recognition of a big player, people say he wasn’t in form, but a big player is that who steps up in high-pressure situations, and what Virat did, only he could have done!” added Mohammad Amir.
