Virat Kohli Knocks Down Trash Can Following A Heated Exchange With The Umpire Because Of Controversial Dismissal

During a contentious moment in the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Virat Kohli, the former India captain, led RCB’s aggressive chase of 223 with a brisk start. However, controversy arose when Kohli was dismissed to a questionable on-field decision after fending off what appeared to be a beamer from paceman Harshit Rana.

Unhappy with the ruling, Kohli challenged the decision to the third umpire, who ultimately upheld the on-field call, resulting in Kohli’s dismissal. This decision incited Kohli’s fury, as he visibly protested on the field before reluctantly walking off.

Television replays later suggested that the ball might have been above Kohli’s waistline, prompting criticism from former India cricketer and IPL commentator Navjot Sidhu, who argued that Kohli should have been given the benefit of the doubt and the delivery deemed a ‘no ball’ due to its dangerous nature.

Kohli’s frustration boiled over as he aggressively confronted one of the on-field umpires before venting his anger by smashing his bat on the ground and hitting a nearby trash can with his gloves.

RCB faces a close defeat against KKR despite a great team effort

Despite Kohli’s early promise and RCB’s strong start, his struggles in the team’s green jersey continued, with Kohli managing just 18 runs off seven balls before his dismissal, extending his recent poor form in the ‘Go Green’ initiative matches. RCB, led by captain Faf Du Plessis, had won the toss and chose to field first.

Phil Salt’s explosive innings, supported by contributions from Shreyas Iyer, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, and Ramandeep Singh, propelled KKR to a formidable total of 222/6 in their 20 overs.

RCB’s bowling effort was led by Cameron Green and Yash Dayal, who both claimed two wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Lockie Ferguson chipped in with a wicket each. Despite their efforts, RCB fell short in their chase, ultimately losing the match to KKR.
