India’s top cricketer, Virat Kohli, is most likely going to feature for the county side before the Test series between India and England in June 2025. This is in a bid to give Kohli a chance to retry form, which has been wanting in the just-ended Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Kohli was uncomfortable against the moving ball; he faced a lot of difficulties against the Australians, more so the bowlers.
One weakness that surfaced in the series was Kohli’s ability to struggle when facing balls outside off stump, as all his dismissals in the series were caught behind wickets off his outside edge. Kohli should benefit from the experience of playing in County cricket for the forthcoming Test series against England.
Virat Kohli plans to play county cricket

It is expected that Virat Kohli will go to county cricket in order to build form for India’s Test series against England, depending on how RCB performs in the IPL 2025. If RCB does qualify for the playoffs, Kohli’s county cricket stint will be drastically cut short as the IPL final is slated for May 25 while the Test series commences on June 20.
Getting into specific details, if RCB is potentially in the finals, then to play in English conditions, Kohli would have only 14 days and thus will not be able to play domestic cricket.
Kohli’s value to RCB is not only as an IPL player, a potential captain of the team, but also given the fact he is the leading run-scorer in IPL history, it is improbable that RCB will let him go for County cricket if they make it to the playoffs.
There is much for Kohli on the IPL, and he will most likely keep his attention on it. Following the last season’s performance as the top run-getter and RCB’s star player, Kohli cannot afford to take up a County cricket stint this season.
