Virat Kohli Misses Another Practice Session Before India’s T20 World Cup Opener: Report Reveals The Reason

Virat Kohli joined the Indian team a day before the warm-up match against Bangladesh and missed all three practice sessions. He was also left out of the warm-up game, with captain Rohit Sharma explaining that Kohli’s late arrival made him unavailable.

A report now claims that Kohli and other team members missed a practice session on Sunday because they were given a rest day following the match against Bangladesh. However, Kohli is expected to participate in India’s training session on Monday.

Kohli ended the IPL 2024 season with 741 runs in 15 innings, earning the Orange Cap for the second time in his career. Despite discussions about his potential exclusion from the T20 World Cup, he enters the tournament as the top run-scorer in its history, with 1141 runs in 27 matches since 2012.

The iconic 35-year-old was named ICC’s ODI Player of the Year ahead of the T20 World Cup. In 2023, he reached another high point in his remarkable career, rebounding from years of inconsistent form and struggles to score big.

In 27 ODIs, he amassed 1,377 runs at an average of 72.47 and a strike rate of 99.13, including six centuries and eight fifties in 24 innings, with his highest score being 166*. He was pivotal in India’s Asia Cup 2023 victory, scoring an unbeaten 122* off 94 balls against Pakistan in a crucial Super Four match.

In last year’s ODI World Cup held in India, Virat had an exceptional campaign, scoring 765 runs in 11 matches at an average of 95.62, with three centuries, six half-centuries, and a top score of 117.

He finished the tournament as the top scorer, setting a new record for the most runs in a single World Cup edition by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s 673 runs from the 2003 World Cup. Additionally, he broke Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries by scoring his 50th ODI ton against New Zealand in the semifinals.

Yuvraj Singh overlooks Australia for the T20 World Cup final, supporting Virat Kohli to be the tournament’s top run-scorer

Yuvraj Singh has predicted the T20 World Cup finalists and believes Virat Kohli will lead the batting charts. Legendary Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh urges Rohit Sharma’s Team India to play to their strengths at the T20 World Cup, as cricket entered uncharted territory on Saturday.

Co-hosts United States secured a comfortable seven-wicket win over Canada in the T20 World Cup 2024 opener in Dallas. Inaugural ICC event champions, Team India, will begin their campaign against Ireland on June 5.

Yuvraj Singh highlighted Rishabh Pant as the player to keep an eye on at the T20 World Cup, while also endorsing Virat Kohli to lead the batting charts in the tournament.

Kohli recently joined the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup after a successful stint in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), where he secured his second Orange Cap. “I am eager to see Rishabh make his comeback from a significant injury. As for the top run-scorer, Virat Kohli seems promising given his excellent performance in the IPL,” Yuvraj remarked.

The last time the Men in Blue won a major global tournament was under MS Dhoni’s leadership. The 2013 Champions Trophy remains India’s most recent ICC title. This victory came two years after Yuvraj helped Dhoni’s team secure the 2011 World Cup.
