After a forgetful performance from Team India in the first test, former Indian test specialist VVS Laxman is looking for new heroes in the second test match in Melbourne. It begins from December 26 and India must win the test match to stay in the hunt for a series win. Meanwhile, Indian skipper Virat Kohli remains unavailable for the last three tests with Ajinkya Rahane stepping in to lead the team in his absence.

Meanwhile, in his column for Times of India, VVS Laxman said that one bad performance from India’s batting line-up should not be the parameter to judge their class. He further said that India have proved that they are a better team in overseas conditions in a number of occasions.

“This freak occurrence should not define these players, who have played and performed enough times in all parts of the world. I am not saying dismiss what happened, but it’s imperative to put it in perspective. India had scrapped for six sessions to get their noses in front, only for a crazy 70-minute passage to undo the good work” wrote VVS in his column.

“What can I say that hasn’t been said of India’s meltdown in Adelaide? Watching the wickets tumble was surreal, each dismissal an action replay of the previous one. But we must not forget that as disappointing as it is for us to watch what unfolded, the players and the entire squad must be hurting badly” he further added.

Time To Find New Heroes: VVS Laxman

VVS Laxman further said that it is time for the Indian team to find new heroes in the remaining three test matches.

“There is a great chance for new heroes to emerge, for men to put their hand up and rise to the occasion. It’s time to put Adelaide behind and target a fresh beginning,” VVS Laxman added.

He concluded by saying that there is enough talent in the Indian team to challenge the Aussies even without Virat Kohli who has been their best batsman for a long time now.
