The outstanding spell from Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz against Australia during the quarterfinal clash in the ICC World Cup 2015 will forever be etched in the memory of the cricket lovers. Although Australia won the one-sided affair, but Riaz had put them in a spot of bother.
Meanwhile, the tie still remains fresh in the minds of the cricket lovers largely due to the rivalry it sparked between Pakistan’s speedster Wahab Riaz and Australia’s then all-rounder Shane Watson. The two were at it against each other with Riaz resorting to short-ball tactics versus Watson, who was in all sorts of problems.

Recollecting on the much-debated rivalry with Watson, Riaz opened up on what happened between them at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on March 20, 2015. Spilling beans, the veteran Pakistan fast bowler revealed that he had settled the score with Shane Watson, who had sledged him while batting.
“When he came into bat, I settled the score with him. When I was batting Watson just came up to me and said ‘are you holding a bat?’ (as Riaz struggled to connect versus Mitchell Starc and the likes) and that was going through my mind. I let him know that even he had a bat, but he couldn’t touch the ball,” Riaz said.

The spell from Wahab Riaz was a fast bowler’s dream. He bowled his heart out touching the 150-mark and troubled the batsman with short-pitch deliveries. Previously, Shane Watson had also opened up on the same praising Riaz for that wonderful spell.
“Wahab gave it everything, he was right on the money and there were some really nasty balls in there. I was lucky to get through that spell,” Watson had said.
Australia eventually managed to win the match by six wickets and went on to lift the coveted trophy beating New Zealand in the final.
