The former India skipper MS Dhoni is one of the most illustrious cricketers to have played the game. However, he came from a very humble background in Jharkhand and had a very limited dream during the initial days of his international career.
Wasim Jaffer, who recently announced his retirement, recently opened up on a dressing room anecdote about Dhoni. Jaffer had seen the wicket-keeper-batsman who made his debut in 20014 from close quarters in the early days with the Indian team.

During a recent question-answer session on social media platform Twitter amid the lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, Jaffer said that Dhoni had once said that he wanted to make Rs 30 lakhs from playing cricket so that he could live the rest of his life in peace in Ranchi, his hometown. During the conversation, a fan asked Wasim Jaffer about his favourite memory of the legendary MS Dhoni.
“In his 1st and 2nd year with the Indian team, I remember he said, he wants to make 30 lakhs by playing cricket. So, he can live peacefully for the rest of his life in Ranchi,” Jaffer said.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that MS Dhoni is likely to hang his boots in 2020. He has not played any cricket since India’s ouster from the World Cup in England last year after losing to New Zealand. He was due to return during the Indian Premier League but it was postponed until April 15 due to COVID-19.
