[WATCH] A 15-Year-Old Boy Travels 58 Km By Cycle To See Virat Kohli In The India-Bangladesh Test Match

Virat Kohli, India’s star batter, has an immense fan following and is one of the nation’s most beloved athletes. His popularity inspired a 15-year-old boy to cycle 58 kilometers to see him play in the ongoing Test match in Kanpur against Bangladesh.

A viral video features a boy named Kartikeya, who shared that he began his journey at 4 a.m. from Unnao on Friday, September 27, arriving at Green Park Stadium by 11 a.m. As a 10th-grade student, he rode such a long distance solely to watch Kohli play. You can view the video of his journey below:

Virat Kohli received an enthusiastic reception from fans in Kanpur on the first day of the second Test against Bangladesh. Notably, a member of the ground staff was seen touching Kohli’s feet before the toss.

“Every time he walks in, we expect him to score 100”- Parthiv Patel commented reflecting fans’ high expectations for Kohli

Virat Kohli struggled with the bat in the Test series opener against Bangladesh in Chennai, scoring just 6 and 17. Former India keeper Parthiv Patel recently addressed the pressure Kohli faces due to high expectations.

Patel noted that Kohli has set such a high standard that even a score of 70 feels disappointing. He mentioned that fans expect the star batter to hit a century every time he plays. Patel suggested that cricketers like Joe Root and Kane Williamson can’t fully comprehend the pressure Kohli experiences.

Ahead of the Kanpur Test, Patel was quoted by India Today:

“I don’t think he’s (Virat Kohli) feeling that kind of pressure. And as you rightly mentioned that, I don’t think Smith or Joe Root or Williamson can even think of the type of pressure he must be feeling. The pressure of expectation, that is huge.”

“He has set his standard so high that even if he scores 60 or 70, that comes across as a failure. Because every time he walks in, we expect him to score 100. We expect him to play with that kind of intensity, which he has always been playing.”

India won the toss and opted to field first. The opening day concluded early due to rain, with Bangladesh ending at 107/3 by stumps.
