[WATCH] A Spectator Invades The Pitch With Palestine Flag During The ENG vs PAK 2nd T20I

During the second T20I between England and Pakistan at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Saturday, May 25, a spectator breached security protocols and entered the pitch with the Palestine flag. This was followed by chants of ‘Free Free Palestine’ from a section of the crowd.

The spectator was promptly removed from the ground by security personnel. The incident coincides with the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine in Gaza. On Sunday, May 26, a drone strike targeting a school serving as a shelter resulted in the deaths of at least 10 individuals, including children, in Gaza.

The Free Palestine Movement is a Palestinian-Syrian armed group and community organization that backs the Syrian Ba’athist government. It opposes Israel’s existence. Mohammad Rizwan from Pakistan and Usman Khawaja from Australia have also shown support for the Freedom movement. Watch the latest video from Edgbaston here:

England secured a 23-run victory over Pakistan in the second T20I

England clinched a 23-run victory over Pakistan at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Saturday, thanks to a comprehensive all-round display. Opting to bat first, England posted a total of 183/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Captain Jos Buttler spearheaded the charge with a brilliant knock of 84 runs off 51 balls, featuring three sixes and eight boundaries. Will Jacks contributed 37 runs from 23 deliveries, while Jonny Bairstow added 21 runs from 18 balls.

Shaheen Afridi emerged as the top wicket-taker for Pakistan, claiming figures of 3/36, while Imad Wasim and Haris Rauf secured two wickets each. However, despite their efforts, the Men in Green were dismissed for 160 runs in 19.2 overs. Their innings got off to a shaky start with early dismissals of openers Mohammed Rizwan and Saim Ayubs.

Fakhar Zaman and captain Babar Azam made promising starts, scoring 45 runs from 21 balls and 32 runs from 26 balls respectively, but couldn’t guide the team to victory. Contributions from Iftikhar Ahmed (23 runs from 17 balls) and Imad Wasim (22 runs from 13 balls) were not enough to secure a win.

Reece Topley excelled with the ball for England, securing figures of 3/41, while Moeen Ali and Jofra Archer claimed two wickets apiece.

The two sides will face each other again in the third T20I at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Tuesday, May 28. England are currently ahead in the four-match series with a 1-0 lead, as the first game was abandoned without a single ball being bowled.
